James Lindner – Senior Media Preservation
and Technology Consultant
James Lindner, an internationally respected authority
on the preservation and migration of electronic media,
is the CEO of SAMMA Systems. He has lectured widely
and written about media preservation for the past fifteen
years. Jim founded the videotape restoration company
VidiPax and served as its executive director. He was
twice a member of the board of the directors for the
Association of Moving Images and FIAT and currently
serves on the Executive Board of SEAPAVAA. An active
participant in SMPTE and ANSI standards committees,
Jim has also served as Chairman of the Board of the
Anthology Film Archives. He holds a BFA and MBA from
New York University.
Ian Gilmour – Media Preservation Consultant
Ian Gilmour has worked for over 25 years as a preservation
expert and consultant, setting up and managing technical
facilities, operations, collections, engineering and
research in both small and large agencies. He has worked
for the National Film and Sound Archive in Australia,
Library of Congress, National Library of Australia,
National Archives of Australia, and RNZ. Ian is a member
of the Technical Committee of IASA, and former chair
the Preservation Committee of AMIA. He has participated
in the UNESCO Memory of the World Project for Safeguarding
the Audivisual Heritage, and has written and presented
papers on preservation, restoration and delivery of
audio, video and magnetic media for IASA, AustralAsian
Sound Recording Association, IEEE, AES, AMIA, FIAT
and IBC. Ian studied applied science at the University
of Canberra, and has worked as a lecturer for the ANU,
the University of Canberra, UNSW, UNESCO-SEAPAVAA,
and Charles Sturt University.
Steve Kwartek – Media Preservation Consultant
Steve Kwartek is a Media Preservation Consultant, bringing
to Media Matters more than 15 years of experience working
with archival audiovisual material. Formerly, Steve
was affiliated with the videotape restoration company
VidiPax. During that time he consulted and managed the
restoration and preservation of major media collections
including Coca Cola, IBM, AT&T and New York City
Ballet. Steve has also served as a videotape colorist
at The Tape House Editorial and the Production Manager
at The Museum of Television and Radio. Steve holds a
BA from New York University.
Gilad Rosner – Media Technology Consultant
Gilad Rosner is a Media Technology Consultant at Media
Matters. Gilad has over 10 years experience with broadband
and wireless telecommunications systems and policy,
working as an independent consultant in the for-profit
and non-profit sectors. He also served as Director of
Operations for Speakeasy Networks, and Director of IT
Projects for the Coalition of Voluntary Mental Health
Agencies. Gilad has researched and written on telecommunications,
IT, videoconferencing, storage, and 3G wireless technologies,
as well as medical records privacy and security regulations.
He holds a BA from the University of Chicago, and an
MPS from NYU.
